Support That Sparked Stability
When a local mom began her mentorship journey with Salty Family Services, she was preparing to welcome her fourth child. Not long after, she was involved in a car accident. Thankfully, both she and the baby were unharmed—but her car was totaled.
With the guidance of her mentor, she created a new budget, prioritized her needs, and was able to purchase a reliable cash car. Together, they also set goals toward saving for a larger home.
Throughout her mentorship, she stayed engaged and open to support. Salty Church provided Christmas gifts for her children that year, and she was connected to key community resources—including after-school care at the YMCA for her oldest son and daycare for her youngest. Volunteers stepped in to offer gift cards for baby items and even brought meals after the birth of her new baby.
During one of their conversations, her mentor reflected back some of the qualities that had become so evident through their journey together: her strength, independence, kindness, work ethic, and dedication as a mother. These affirmations became a mirror of truth, helping her see the growth and resilience that had been within her all along.
This is a beautiful example of what happens when mentorship, community resources, and volunteer support come together: a family experiences tangible security and hope for the future.
She shared,
“The support—even though it was only through weekly meetings and prayers—was the foundation for my new outlook on life. You’ve helped me grow in many ways, and I’ll forever be grateful to you.”
